The Future of Blockchain

1:30 PM–2:30 PM Aug 8, 2019 (US - Pacific)

Tower Ballroom 8

Description

Speaker: Dr. James Stanger PhD, Chief Technology Evangelist, CompTIA

As an enterprise or even a CompTIA partner you may be wondering where all the hype is going with blockchain. Blockchains are an open-source distributed database that use state-of-the-art cryptography to essentially facilitate transactions and/or interactions that can be either financial or non-financial data. A blockchain is essentially a record of transactions like a traditional ledger.

These transactions can be recorded for anything, and not just financial blockchain. Blockchain is to bitcoin what the internet is to email, and now blockchain is really about providing value to the enterprise. Whether you just now learning about what blockchain technology is or your deeply involved in a proof of concept (POC) then learning about the disruptive nature of blockchain technology is the right move

This session will define what blockchain technology is, why companies embrace this technology, and review the major enterprise blockchains (such as Hyperledger, Ethereum, Quorum, and R3 Corda). Additionally, we will look at which industries are ripe for distribution from Blockchain Technology and explain what blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) is and why as a cloud expert you should understand it. Finally, we will touch on the top five areas that CompTIA partners should learn to profit from blockchain.
